Artist Statement

IT TAKES A VILLAGE (2023-24)

Shot exclusively in the New Forest, this body of work draws on the symbolism of Mother Nature as the giver of life. It explores the nuances of motherhood, focusing on the less overt, and often overlooked, forms. The trees are powerful symbols representing resilience, strength, and the nurturing qualities associated with the circle of life, in the face of challenges. This series explores themes of growth and interconnectedness with connotations towards the different paths and journeys of nurturing and caregiving. My aim for this work is to spark conversations about inclusivity, empathy, and how communities, particularly women, come together to support one another through various life experiences.
