for the curious
and those willing to look closer
I prefer not to limit my practice to fixed titles or definitions; the term ’photographer’ somehow doesn’t capture the full scope or spirit of what I do. However, I do like to think of my work as folktography – a contemporary form of storytelling that offers a sense of connection and community, drawing on inherent wisdom.
[ quote ]
“I consider myself a flâneuse of the forest; it is the place where I create, reflect, and explore the liminal space between reality and imagination.”

Untitled #5
This image was shot in an ancient woodland near my home, in England’s Northeast, called Elemore Woods. This particular area features several different woods and plantations, but at the top of the hill is the remnant of an ancient woodland; I am sure you can feel the difference in the atmosphere. One of the things I like most about this whole site is that it has no car park, so it feels more natural and free from boundaries and control.
This image was taken on the first full moon of the year, January’s Wolf Moon. The colour of the sky is almost exactly as it was in real life. The white, feather-like entities are candle flames, included to graphically commemorate the lives lost during the Great Scottish Witch Hunt of 1661-62, which saw at least 660 women and men tried for witchcraft and diabolism, with the majority of the accused being found guilty and subsequently executed. The white flames represent their legacy.
